Critique 3
This is a portrait of Affonso I, he was the king of Congo from 1506-1540. I do not know who the artist of this picture is or when exactly it was created. This portrait has the simplest composition yet. It centers his head so he is the main focus in it. The hue in it is very dark, kind of like every color was shaded. There really are not any art elements within the piece. There is some contrast between his face and the background because his face is darker than the background which is a light yellow. There seems to be a lot of emphasis on his hat which is the brightest color in the portrait. The harmony of the piece seems off, nothing within it seems to flow well.
